Although the Windmill coach is still in operation for hire through Ross Travel Group alongside the other disabled access coaches the Windmill community Charity its self-ceased to trade in December 2017, however the charity still has assets. The trustees have taken the decision to dispose of these assets through a grant aid programme over the next three years (2019, 2020, 2021).
Grants will be given to groups who meet the criteria laid down in the Windmill Constitution as detailed below.
"To provide a community transport service for such of the inhabitants of Leeds and its Neighbourhood who are in need of such a service because of age sickness disability (mental or physical), or poverty or because of a lack of availability of adequate and safe passenger services."
Grants will be provided to help to meet the additional costs of group members travelling together with those with mobility problems in the same (accessible) vehicle. Grants will not be restricted to previous users of Windmill.
